Europe's spreading Yuletide markets carry on to grow in popularity amongst visitors, and yet the Nuremberg Christmas Market handily ranks as the most epic of the lot. In excess of 200 vendors fit into timber stalls in Hauptmarkt Square in the city's Old Quarter, offering traditional goods, from mulled wine and gingerbread to handcrafted Christmas tree angels, trinkets and gorgeous jewelry.
Approximately two million people arrive upon the Christmas market every single year, drifting about stalls and, in the case of kids, (and those at heart), indulging in kids's rides like a timber Ferris wheel and steam train. Be sure to shop for just some of the market's famous wares, like a jug for mulled wine, and the Zwetschgenmännle, or "Little Prune People," tiny figures made from prunes. If you have never filled up on the spiced wine, satiate your appetite with tasty snacks like Nuremberg sausages, potato pancakes and roasted almonds.
